Richard Joseph Howard (October 13th, 1929 — ) is an American poet, critic, essayist, and translator. He is a professor emeritus at Columbus University and won the Pultizer Prize for his 1969 poetry collection Untitled Subjects. He has also won many other awards, including the PEN Translation Prize, the National Book Award, and the PEN/Ralph Manheim Medal for his translations.
