Ivan Turgenev

(November 9th, 1818 — September 3rd, 1883)

Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (Иван Сергеевич Тургенев) was a Russian author, poet, and playwright. His body of work includes novels, short stories, and plays. Turgenev had a role in popularizing Russian fiction in the West.

A favourite of Henry James and Joseph Conrad, Turgenev is considered a major figure in 19th Century realism.
