Friedrich Dürrenmatt was a Swiss novelist and playwright, writing in German. He wrote many novels and plays, including some which were adapted into films. He was a proponent of epic theatre and sometimes wrote works with Post-War themes.
Dürrenmatt was politically active and was a member of a left-wing group of Swiss writers called the Gruppe Olten. His work included many genres such as crime novels, satire, and avant-garde drama.
