Dr E Dale Saunders was an American scholar and translator. Saunders studied Romance Philology and Japanese. He was part of the naval reserve for some time and, at one point, studied in Paris.
Saunders taught at many universities in various cities, including Paris and Tokyo. He is best known for his translations of Kōbō Abe.
