John Leech (August 29th, 1817 — October 29th, 1864) was an British caricaturist and illustrator. He was best known for his work in Punch. Though he often produced political and social critical satires, he also catered to the prejudices of his time. He was a pioneer in comics and the first illustrator of Dickens‘ A Christmas Carol.
