Marguerite Duras

(April 4th, 1914 – March 3rd, 1996)

Marguerite Germaine Marie Donnadieu (known as ‘Marguerite Duras’) was a French novelist, essayist, screenwriter, playwright, and filmmaker.

She won numerous awards for her work, and her work was both critically acclaimed and widely influential during her lifetime and afterwards. She grew up in French Indochina (French-occupied Vietnam) before moving back to France.
